Patrick is a violinist, violist, teacher, composer and arranger. He began his musical studies in Lafayette, California where he was a soloist with the Oakland and Diablo Youth Orchestras. He completed his Bachelor of Music at Rice University studying violin with Camilla Wicks, viola with Csaba Erdelyi and composition with Paul Cooper, Samuel Jones and George Burt. He earned his Master of Music in Viola Performance and Pedagogy under Peter Slowik at Northwestern University.

In 1995, Da Camera of Houston performed Patrick's Duo for Violin and Viola. He was also a finalist in the ASCAP young composer competition in the same year. The May/June 2002 issue of Strings Magazine featured his Tango for string quartet (Bagatelle #5). Patrick's compositions have been performed by The Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, California's Gold Coast Chamber Players, Chicago's Orion Ensemble, Tango Classico, the Metro String Quartet at The Banff Centre for the Arts, the Metropolitan String Quartet on tour in Greece and Mélange in Kitchener, Ontario. Patrick has received numerous commissions from performers such as Peter Slowik (Oberlin Conservatory), Erin Brophey (Thunder Bay Symphony), Andrea Lysack (asst. principal cello, Windsor Symphony), Lyle Dockendorff, Dr. Larry Wells (asst. professor of music, Methodist University, and most recently the Halcyon Trio Oregon (Linfield College) and the Orion Ensemble (Chicago). His Black Tango was broadcast live by the Orion Ensemble on WFMT Chicago in May of 2006.

Patrick is a private teacher of violin and viola and has taught at Merit Music and Upbeat Music in Chicago. He is currently a member of the music faculty at the Young Musicians and Artists in Salem, Oregon as well as maintaining a private studio in Thunder Bay.

Patrick plays viola with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and with the Britt Festival Orchestra in Jacksonville, Oregon.

Patrick and his wife E-Chen Hsu currently make their home on the glorious shores of Lake Superior in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, where they enjoy the fresh air and outdoors in almost all seasons and are lucky enough to play together in the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.

Just as he enjoys both Brahms and Wagner, he will drink a South Australian Shiraz and a Pinot Noir from Burgundy's Cote de Nuits with equal satisfaction.
